Here at Berkeley Castle, we can hardly believe it’s nearly a year since we held our hugely successful ‘Spring Fling’ event of 2023, our gorgeous wedding showcase. We had a fantastic day, and everyone who attended did too. It was a great chance for couples to ask our on-site experts about all things wedding-related, and gain inspiration on everything from floral displays to table designs, music, food, drink and a lot more besides.

As we’ve mentioned before, spring can be a great time of year to tie the knot for many reasons, not least the weather, which is typically warm without being overwhelmingly hot. Plus there’s generally more availability for wedding venues and the suppliers you’ll need, from caterers to florists. And your guests are less likely to have big holidays planned at this time of year.

Not only that, but you’ll have a superb choice of seasonal flowers from which to take your pick. At the same time, plants, shrubs and so on are all coming into bloom, providing a stunning background to your photos in the grounds of venues like ours.

Step outside

What’s more, you’ll have greater choice in terms of where you actually become a married couple. At Berkeley Castle, for example, we offer numerous options including the nearby church, some beautiful indoor settings or the possibility of an al fresco ceremony – we’re fully licensed for couples to wed outside. Suitable spots range from our Queen Elizabeth Bowling Lawn, Memorial Garden and Lower Lawn. Talk to us about the perfect place to say ‘I do’. However, our indoor spaces will remain on standby if the weather doesn’t behave itself, so you will always have a beautiful Plan B.

You could extend the outdoors theme to holding at least part of your post-ceremony celebrations under the sky as well. We can host marquees in our grounds for delightful outside wedding receptions. (We have plenty of space in the grounds to do this, however many guests you’re expecting.)

Eat, drink and be merry

Our sole catering experts Napier Catering will devise a fully bespoke solution for food and drink throughout your weekend with us, whatever you have in mind for your menus, and whether you plan to eat indoors or outside. Ideas range from fine-dining wedding breakfasts to barbecues, picnics, rehearsal dinners and more. There are also options like food trucks to fend off the late-night munchies. So rest assured you and your guests will be extremely well looked after with Napier.

What we offer

Berkeley Castle is a luxury, exclusive-use weekend wedding venue right on the edge of the Cotswolds. While we hold lovely weddings the whole year round, our part of the world is particularly delightful as it comes to life in the spring and early summer. So we’re looking forward to hosting some truly fabulous celebrations as we move into peak wedding season.
