Why having your wedding at a castle wedding venue is spectacular

Once you’ve decided to tie the knot, hunting for the right venue is likely to top your list of things to do.

Getting married in a castle may seem like something out of a fairy tale or a childhood dream, but there are more reasons to get hitched in one than just the sweeping staircases and so on – although, of course, these places provide a uniquely exquisite backdrop to your special day.

Your pick of rooms

You’ll usually have the run of numerous rooms and other spaces such as reception rooms to choose from, from snug libraries to imposing dining rooms.

The amazing grounds

Nearly all castles are surrounded by beautiful grounds to provide the picture-perfect background to your big day. Think spacious lawns, orchards and acres of countryside, all providing an idyllic setting.

You don’t have to change venues

You can say your vows, enjoy the reception, wedding breakfast and evening party without having to switch venues or think about how your guests will transfer from one location to another during the day. The ceremony could be in an onsite chapel or outside somewhere or a gorgeous reception room – the choice is yours. But, whatever you decide, you’ll all be able to stay in the same place all day and into the evening and overnight for those staying over.

Privacy

Book the venue to be yours exclusively, and enjoy having the venue to yourselves. After all, castles were built to keep intruders out! So you can enjoy the day without having to share the venue with anyone outside of your immediate wedding party, and expect the full attention of all staff throughout.

Incredible history

There’s something very special about getting married somewhere so steeped in such a rich heritage, and for all of that to become a part of your own personal history.

Superb photographs

Castles provide so many wonderful photo opportunities, both indoors and outside. From sweeping gardens to stately interiors, the memories you make of your wedding will be preserved against a spectacular background.

Make the day your own

You can do your wedding your way in a castle, since they’re such versatile venues – it doesn’t have to be all grand formality. Plan your entertainment the way you want it, whether that’s an intimate dinner or a lavish party for hundreds lasting long into the night.

Equally, castles can be really cosy inside in winter, with log fires blazing, or you can have a glamorous reception outside in the warmer months. However you decide to do it, your guests will be talking about the occasion for a very long time to come.
