With summer dates all but gone due to so many postponements as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic, you might think you will have to wait two, three or even four years, until you can get married.

However, there is an alternative. I'm going to tell you SEVEN brilliant reasons why you should have a winter wedding.

A Calendar Highlight.

Getting married in the winter, means that your guests are less likely to have attended multiple weddings and the lead up to your big day. Your wedding will be more of a welcome celebration in a season that has not got lots going on and your guests are much less likely to be suffering from ‘wedding fatigue’.  Having something wonderful to look forward to in February, March or November really lifts the spirits.

Delicious Winter Wedding Delights.

Think warm winter Pimm's, mulled wine and mulled cider as your reception drinks or shot soup shots during canapes.  How about your wedding breakfast?  Think gourmet comfort food, such as locally produced sausage and mash, flaky buttery pastry pies, mini Beef Wellingtons….. and don't get forget dessert; sticky toffee pudding or treacle tart with crème anglais, or chocolate melt in the middle fondants.

Go Grand

Winter weddings are perfect for those opulent wedding venues such as stately homes, and especially castles.  Think big, roaring open fires, grand staircases and opulent furnishings and with most venues, offering lower prices in the winter months, you can afford to really push the boat out.  At Berkeley Castle we offer some incredible winter wedding weddings click here to find out more or click here to arrange a viewing.

 The Weather

If there is one thing you can rely on, it's the British weather! You can rely on it to be unreliable!!  If you choose a winter wedding, you won't be worrying about the weather.  That constant “will it be raining?  Will it be sunny?” uncertainty will be gone.  It’s winter so you know it's going to be cold.  This means that you can now focus on creating a fabulous, perfect indoor wedding.

The accessories.

There are some fabulous winter accessories you can add, which can make all the difference. How about a luxurious cashmere stole for the bride?  What about matching fluffy shrugs for the bridesmaids?  Something for the boys?  How about a soft wool or tweed three-piece suit?  This look is incredibly stylish & stunning, but certainly too hot for the summer.

Then for your guests a basket of blankets for your nearest and dearest to help themselves to would add a touch of decadence that all your guests will appreciate & love.  If you're having a wedding in November or December and you want to have wedding favours on every place setting. How about a personalised Christmas tree decoration, something your guests will treasure forever and use every year.

 The Golden Hour.

Let's talk light.  Great photographers often speak of a magical golden hour when the light levels are so perfect that the images taken during this time are simply stunning.  This golden hour happens just before the sun sets, so in the summer months this can be as late as eight or nine o'clock. But in the winter these magical photos can be done as early as 3pm or 4pm.

What about inside?  Well nothing says glamour quite like candlelight and thanks to the different light levels in the winter months, tea lights, pillar candles, lanterns & candelabras all twinkle just that little bit more at a winter wedding.
