Frequently Asked Questions about your wedding day at Berkeley Castle

How do I book to view the wedding venue?

We would love to show you around the Castle & grounds so please do get in touch to book a viewing at a time convenient for you.  Email weddings@berkeley-castle.com or head over to our contact page and complete the form.

What does it cost to get married at Berkeley Castle?

The cost depends on the time of year you decide to get married.  We have 3 price brackets (£13,400 for February, March, & November, £14,400 for April & October, & £16,900 for May, June, July, August, September & December).  You can download our brochure which includes the prices here.

Can I choose where in the castle I get married?

Yes, we have several stately rooms inside the castle as well as beautiful areas outside in our gardens where you can have a civil ceremony, or a celebrant led ceremony.

Can I get married in church?

Yes, St Mary’s Church is located on our Private Drive and is a Church of England church. As with all churches in England you will have to form a connection with the church in order to get married which would mean attending at least six services before your Bands are read. The lovely Rev. Steven Godsell would be more than happy to discuss this with you.

Where is the wedding reception held?

Receptions can be held both inside & outside.  The Drawing Rooms & Great Hall are amazing spaces to host your reception (not to mention the Beer Cellar & the Armoury) and our gardens & grounds are perfect for summer as alternatives.

Do we have access to all of the Castle grounds on our wedding day?

Yes, you do.

Can I choose my own caterers for my wedding day?

Unfortunately not.  We have sole caterers here at the Castle called Napier Catering who will take care of all your catering needs with no restrictions on what you wish to have.

Are we able to sample the food and drinks before the wedding?

You are able to arrange a private food tasting with Napier at an additional cost.

Can I bring my pets?

Yes you can!  You might wish to have your four-legged friend join you for your ceremony or your drinks reception so that they can be a part of your special celebrations and then they are welcome to spend the night at either Brook House or Salt House.

Is there somewhere for the bride & groom to get ready?

Yes. Brook House & Salt House are yours from the day before your wedding so you can enjoy getting ready on the morning of your wedding. Some, couples choose to change for the evening (maybe a second bridal gown, maybe dinner jacket) and if this is going to be you, then there is a room in the Castle you would be welcome to use.

Can we use the venue for the whole weekend?

Yes. The accommodation (Salt House & Brook House) are yours for the whole weekend, you can arrive from 12noon on Friday and there is no check out time on the Sunday, you just leave whenever you wish. You will also have the the Castle on the Friday so you or your suppliers can prepare & set up.

How many guests can I invite to the wedding?

We are licensed to host up to 130 guests in the day for a ceremony and day time reception and up to 180 for an evening reception.

What time does the reception end?

We are licensed until midnight, however you are welcome to opt for a late license until 1.00am should you wish .

Is décor included in the wedding price?

The Castle is beautifully decorated with historic pictures, tapestries & wall hangings which remain in place for your wedding, but things like floral arrangements & centre pieces are not included. However, we do provide table linen & napkins (in a variety of colours). Take a look at our pricing page or brochure to find out more.
